Frequently Asked Questions

Find direct answers about platform operations, client-side privacy, calculation accuracy, and classroom academic usage.

Platform & Access

Is SmartEng Tools completely free to use?+
Yes. All interactive instruments, architecture emulators, quantitative calculators, and guides are completely free and open-access. There are no premium tiers, paywalls, or hidden fees.
Do I need to sign up or create an account?+
No. We believe in frictionless education. You can execute any simulator or calculator immediately without providing emails, passwords, or personal credentials.
Does SmartEng Tools work on mobile devices and tablets?+
Yes. The entire platform is built with fluid responsive design using Tailwind CSS and tested for smartphones, study tablets (iPad/Android), and desktop workstations.

Privacy, Data & Security

Where are my calculations and inputs processed?+
Tool algorithms execute locally inside your web browser runtime (Client-Side). Information entered into simulators, financial models, and grade planners is processed on your device and not sent to external servers for computation.
Will my inputs be erased if I close my browser tab?+
Tools with save functionality (like the grade planner or festival schedule) cache your work in your device’s browser LocalStorage. You can wipe this state at any time via each tool’s reset button.
Does SmartEng Tools use invasive tracking cookies?+
The site uses a technical language cookie, local storage to keep tool data, and Vercel Analytics/Speed Insights, which do not use cookies. Google AdSense ads may use cookies; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are only used for personalised ads with your consent, managed through the official Google consent panel. See the privacy and cookie policy for details.

Technical Accuracy & Methodology

Which formal standards do the RISC-V tools follow?+
Our RISC-V suite is based on the reference specifications of The RISC-V Instruction Set Manual, Volume I: Unprivileged Architecture for the 32-bit base integer instruction set (RV32I), including canonical ABI register designations.
Does the Karnaugh minimizer use heuristic approximations?+
It finds prime implicants with the Quine-McCluskey tabular method and searches for the cover with the fewest terms for up to 4 variables, designed to obtain a minimal Sum-of-Products (SOP) representation with full don’t-care term support.
Can I cite SmartEng Tools in academic papers or coursework?+
Yes. You may cite any tool by referencing SmartEng Tools, the specific tool URL, and your access date. Refer to our Methodology page for formal standards citations.
How can I report a bug or calculation discrepancy?+
We welcome community contributions and peer review. Please email us at contacto.smartengtools@gmail.com with the tool name, test inputs, and observed vs. expected behavior.
