Required final exam score calculator
Calculates the score you need in the final exam to reach a target grade, based on your partial grades and their weights.
How it calculates
required score = (target − Σ grade_i × weight_i) / final exam weight
- Grades use a 0–10 scale and weights are percentages.
- Partial weights plus the final exam weight must add up to exactly 100%; otherwise the tool shows a warning and does not calculate.
- If the result is above 10, the target grade cannot be reached with those weights.
Example
Lab 7.0 (30%) · midterm 4.5 (20%) · final 50% · target 5.0
→ Required final exam score: 4.00
Limitations
- It does not model minimum pass marks on the exam itself: if your course has one, check it separately in the syllabus.
- Only the 0–10 scale is supported.
